Bedfordshire

The county has an area of 1,235 km2 (477 sq mi) and an estimated population of 749,943 in 2024. Luton is located in the south, and Dunstable neighbours it to the west. Leighton Buzzard in the south-west, and Bedford in the centre-north; much of the county is rural. 
For local government purposes Bedfordshire comprises three unitary authority areas: Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, and Luton.

Central Bedfordshire's population is aging, with a notable increase in the number of residents aged 50 to 64 years. This group rose by just over 9,600, or 19.2%, between 2011 and 2021. The number of residents aged 16 to 19 years fell by around 550, or 4.5%, during the same period. The average age of Central Bedfordshire residents increased from 40 to 41 years, indicating a trend towards an older population.
