Aberdeenshire

The Aberdeenshire council area takes in the historic counties of Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire and half of Banffshire. It does not include Aberdeen City though, which is a Council Area in its own right. However, Aberdeenshire Council does have its headquarters at Woodhill House, in Aberdeen; the only Scottish council whose headquarters are based outside its area's border.

Aberdeenshire covers an area of approximately 6,313 square kilometers (2,437 square miles), representing about 8% of Scotland’s territory, and has a population of around 260,000 people.
The region includes the historic counties of Aberdeenshire, Kincardineshire, and part of Banffshire, while the city of Aberdeen forms an independent council area within it. The landscape features agricultural lowlands, rivers flowing eastward, and the Grampian Mountains, including the notable peak Lochnagar.
